Cherry PocketOutstanding visit to Cherry Pocket.

I’m down here in Orlando taking the SIMCOM course for the C-90. Two other pilots are with me, and I’m tagging along in their car. We have the entire day to kill before check-in, so we decide to head to Fantasy of Flight. Out of the airport, we get a bit distracted, and I happened to mention the seaplane training I’d done a year before. They have a fantastic restaurant there, so I suggested we head that way.

When we get there – we ended up spending  five or six hours at the fishing camp; talking with two former fighter test pilots IMG_1680who were there, and Bryan – the owner fly the seaplane school I introduced them to.   I felt this place was a magical place, but you’d have to be of a certain mindset of think that.  The two pilots that were with me certainly did – so I think I gained a few points.

Lunch was fantastic, and we headed north to the hotel after that. I was in a good place, but so keyed up I didn’t sleep much that night either.

Cherry Pocket is worth your time.

Fully retired now, unless something interesting comes along. I’ve enjoyed a lucrative career as an Electrical Engineer, Certified Software Solutions Developer, and Project Manager. An excellent and fun career that I’m very proud of. I began flying commercially in Dash-8 aircraft for Piedmont Airlines, and moved on to instruct in the Gulfstream 280; WestWind; and Astra jet aircraft. I’ve also been blessed with a type rating in the B-25 bomber in a fortunate turn of events. My wife, Beverly, and I currently own and operate a beautifully restored PA30 Twin Comanche, which we use to explore the CONUS.
