Bev and I flew from Georgetown to Newport News today. We wanted to check in with son Mike, who is home recovering from recent surgery. We also got to spend some time with Marisa while we were there, but missed Mo and Yvonne. It was a beautiful flight down, and we both enjoyed the time together.

They went out of their way to take care of it for me, and gave me both Patuxent and Leesburg’s contact information. As I headed south, I managed to get lined up with Leesburg Flight Service (when was the last time you receieved on a VOR?), filed a new plan and picked it up with Patuxent.

We landed runway 7, after lining up number two behind a Falcon Jet and had our rental car waiting for us there at Rick Aviation. This is the second time I have experienced excellent service with this organization.

After visiting with Mike, Bev and I drove past the airport to Williamsburg for lunch. We had a wonderful time just hanging out together. Life has been quite busy for the two of us, so this was a surprise get away.

Fully retired now, unless something interesting comes along. I’ve enjoyed a lucrative career as an Electrical Engineer, Certified Software Solutions Developer, and Project Manager. An excellent and fun career that I’m very proud of. I began flying commercially in Dash-8 aircraft for Piedmont Airlines, and moved on to instruct in the Gulfstream 280; WestWind; and Astra jet aircraft. I’ve also been blessed with a type rating in the B-25 bomber in a fortunate turn of events. My wife, Beverly, and I currently own and operate a beautifully restored PA30 Twin Comanche, which we use to explore the CONUS.
