Basically &#8216;free&#8217; weather and traffic information becomes available to everyone. \u00a0That is the dream at least &#8211; but reality will be something different.<\/p>\n<p>Since I am required to comply with by Jan, 2020, I am taking my time, but I do plan to commit to a direction and a plan by the first quarter of next year.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the best, baseline option I have found that gets close to what I need.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.airdorrin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/N833DF-Panel2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1620\" src=\"http:\/\/www.airdorrin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/N833DF-Panel2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"N833DF Panel2\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.airdorrin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/N833DF-Panel2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.airdorrin.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/N833DF-Panel2.jpg 712w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nRight now the leading option will cost around $7,500, and includes:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Garmin GDL-88<br \/>\n&#8211; Flightstream 210<br \/>\n&#8211; Garmin Pilot App<\/p>\n<p><strong>PROs &#8211; New capabilities include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wx and traffic on the Garmin 530WAAS<\/li>\n<li>Wx and traffic on two iPads<\/li>\n<li>Backup AHARS on two iPads<\/li>\n<li>Synthetic Vision on the iPads<\/li>\n<li>Flight Planning with two way communication (change the 530waas flight plan and the iPads get it&#8230;. vice versa)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>CONs &#8211; Shortcomings include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>This ADS-B solution only works below 18,000&#8242; and only in the USA. I don&#8217;t go to Canada or the islands at all, but I might like too. \u00a0Include 1090 ES would be nice.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;d be forced to use the Garmin Pilot App, and I&#8217;m not a fan. Foreflight is my application of choice, and I&#8217;m very loyal.<\/li>\n<li>I intend to keep the XM weather &#8211; it&#8217;s more reliable and of better quality.
