{"id":713,"date":"2013-08-02T05:07:21","date_gmt":"2013-08-02T10:07:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.airdorrin.com\/?p=713"},"modified":"2013-08-02T06:01:08","modified_gmt":"2013-08-02T11:01:08","slug":"july-28-2013-oshkosh-2014-camping-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.airdorrin.com\/?p=713","title":{"rendered":"August 2, 2013 &#8211; Oshkosh &#8211; 2014 Camping List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bev and I, based on a blog she read while still at Oshkosh this year, decided to write down all the things we had taken, and all those things we wish we had taken (*) \u00a0this year to enhance our camping experience.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tent (8 man 8&#215;12 worked great)<\/li>\n<li>4 folding chairs<\/li>\n<li>air mattress and an air pump<\/li>\n<li>2 sleeping bags<\/li>\n<li>lamp &#8211; led light<\/li>\n<li>flashlights<\/li>\n<li>tarp for under the tent<\/li>\n<li>fold up cooler<\/li>\n<li>water jug (small red\/white) &#8211; [discuss &#8211; I think an empty milk jug is better, or a large and empty water container that can be filled there.<\/li>\n<li>* 2 britta water bottles with filters<\/li>\n<li>hats<\/li>\n<li>suntan lotion<\/li>\n<li>* fanny pack (bev)<\/li>\n<li>Cameras with extra batteries<\/li>\n<li>sunglasses<\/li>\n<li>* business cards &#8211; to exchange contacts with other pilots<\/li>\n<li>ponchos<\/li>\n<li>* motorcycle rain suits<\/li>\n<li>* paper back books (electronic charging is a challenge)<\/li>\n<li>* deck of cards<\/li>\n<li>* small portable radio<\/li>\n<li>* Warm Beer. I don&#8217;t associate beer with flying, so I ignored suggestions to bring that along. Turns out that having a beer while you sit by the runway is just fine. Just be discrete. You can have a beer on the grounds, but only after 5pm and you have to stay at the food place you purchased it from.<\/li>\n<li>*Hair Dryer<\/li>\n<li>*Coleman propane grill<\/li>\n<li>*coffee pot or water pot<\/li>\n<li>*coffee bags (like tea bags)<\/li>\n<li>*food (cooked turkey burgers, etc)<\/li>\n<li>*umbrellas<\/li>\n<li>*warm and hot clothing<\/li>\n<li>*Shade Tent<\/li>\n<li>*** Some way to pack WET camping gear. Had it rained the morning of departure, it would have made my airplane a MESS. Think about this and prepare.<\/li>\n<li>empty garbage bags to stow wet gear<\/li>\n<li>shower bags. water proof small bags to take you towel and toiletries to the shower and back.<\/li>\n<li>water shoes<\/li>\n<li>* nice sign that won&#8217;t blow away &#8211; &#8216;Dorrin&#8217;s live here&#8230;.&#8217; etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Notes:<\/p>\n<p>You can buy ice out there.
