Ted and I picked up the rented Street Glides and launched from Tampa for Punta Gorda.

For now – I’ll just jot down a few bullets from the many places we visited.

-Clear Water
-St Pete’s Beach
-Casa Key (38M$ houses)
-Punta Gorda
-Passe-a-grille (great breakfast)
-Treasure Island
-LIDO Beach
-Tons of other beaches

Ted and I stopped at PGI and spoke with a number of folks who live there. That was a valuable series of discussions, and just a nice way to spend a day.

Oh yeah-add Anna Maria Island (maybe Anne Maria Island). Captain John Stiles lived there. He was a retired Sub Commander who conducted flag ceremonies and played the anthems of all five miitary institutions every night until he dies. Really pissed off the locals. I know all of this because the locals repeatedly befriended us and put forth all the history.

I’ll add more as I think of it….

Continued…. back to the flying posts.

Fully retired now, unless something interesting comes along. I’ve enjoyed a lucrative career as an Electrical Engineer, Certified Software Solutions Developer, and Project Manager. An excellent and fun career that I’m very proud of. I began flying commercially in Dash-8 aircraft for Piedmont Airlines, and moved on to instruct in the Gulfstream 280; WestWind; and Astra jet aircraft. I’ve also been blessed with a type rating in the B-25 bomber in a fortunate turn of events. My wife, Beverly, and I currently own and operate a beautifully restored PA30 Twin Comanche, which we use to explore the CONUS.
